Three Mission groups get total of $22K from Envision
Envision Financial has donated $22,000 to a trio of Mission organizations via its community endowment program.
The local credit union has given $10,000 to the Union Gospel Mission to support its drop-in and outreach centre; Fraser House Society has received $9,700 for the Challenge Day event, which is a day-long session for teens that encourages them to challenge stereotypes and judgements; Mission Arts Council will received $2,500 for staff, board and volunteer development and training.
“Many past participants of a Challenge Day in Mission have described their experience as life changing,” says Georgina Peter, a prevention worker at Fraser House Society. “Now, with the Envision Financial Endowment grant, Fraser House Society is able to host a Challenge Day for three times as many students. This means that 300 youth and 100 adults will be directly impacted and the ripple effect will be felt in families and schools of our community.”
“We are so thankful for the generous grant we received from the Envision Financial Community Endowment,” shares Karen Flanagan, manager of UGM Mission Ministries. “This grant will help UGM continue our efforts to help the many individuals we meet with daily to get connected with resources they need to move forward in their lives. It is a great pleasure to us to know that our work is valued and supported by Envision Financial as we get to see the positive changes in people’s lives that your donation makes possible.”
Nancy Arcand, executive director of the Mission Arts Council adds, “With the support of the First West Foundation, the Mission Arts Council will be able to produce a five-year strategic plan, hold an annual work planning session with our newly elected board and develop a short term event plan for sustainability of our society. These funds will really go a long way in assisting the Mission Arts Council in securing the future of the arts in the community of Mission and ensure our longevity during times of limited arts funding.”
Envision Financial’s Employee Giving Campaign runs from Oct. 9 to 18. During this time, employees and members are encouraged to make a donation to the First West Foundation in support of the Envision Financial Community Endowment.
