Fields department store staying put in Mission

The First Avenue business chain was purchased by FHC Holdings.

Fears that Mission's local Fields store on First Avenue would be closing have been allayed following the purchase of the department store chain.

FHC Holdings Ltd. has taken control of 57 Fields stores across B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories, and has no plans to close them.

Fields has been part of the landscape of Western Canada for over 60 years, with the first store opening in Vancouver in 1950. Mission's Fields store is located between Eleni's Greek restaurant and the Save N' Shop on First Avenue.

As a further demonstration of Fields' commitment to staying put, FHC Holdings announced a percentage of profits will go to support various initiatives and charities within each community.
