Kilby to open on Easter weekend

Four new events have been added to the historic site’s season.

Kilby Historic Site will officially open for its 2015 season on Friday, April 3.

The new season kicks off with the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Children can collect eggs to claim a prize, decorate an egg to hang on the Easter tree and then continue the search for the elusive golden and silver eggs to win a special prize.

There will also be a traditional turkey feast. Sittings are at noon and 2 p.m.

Four new events have been added to the historic site’s season: The Waterloo Farm Festival on June 28; Kilby Fibre Festival on July 5; Roaring Twenties Gala on Aug. 9; and Plein Air Painting Festival will be held on Aug. 14-16.

The Visitor Appreciation Summer Carnival will be back on Aug. 23.

This festive bash, thrown to celebrate all partners and supporters of Kilby will be admission by donation. There’ll be live music, carnival games, market stalls, face-painting, crafts, a barbecue and loads of prizes for the kids.
