Local girl hoping to raise money for cancer

Mission eight-year-old lops off locks Tuesday for wig program

Eight-year-old Madeline Hofer has been growing her hair for months, but June 26 she'll cut it all off for a good cause.

Madeline is donating her locks to make wigs for cancer patients at the Mackie Naturals Salon in Mission. She’s also hoping to raise $1,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation through pledges and donations.

Clearly, the plight of others has been on her mind. Madeline chose to donate to Make-A-Wish and to the wig program because she knows a child in her school dealing with cancer.

For those who would like to help Madeline achieve her goal, visit www.makeawishbc.ca, click on donate now and choose “Madeline Hofer Haircut 2012” to contribute to her campaign.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and Yukon has provided over 1,400 wishes for children with a life-threatening medical condition and their immediate family since 1983.
