Gary Comeau and the Voodoo All Stars play the Envision Financial Twilight concert series Aug. 16.

The Envision Financial Twilight Concerts continue on Aug. 11 with The Kwerks playing from 7 to 8 p.m.

This Lower Mainland duo has made a number of appearances in Mission and has delighted the audiences each time. Whether performing with their expanded band or not, this will be a fun-filled evening of music.

The Kwerks’ music is a fresh and snappy folk-pop peppered with bluegrass. They infuse their live performances with sassy dance moves and cheeky stories flowing from their journey of dropping everything to live life as authentically as possible. They have a way of making audiences laugh to tears and leave happier than when they arrived.

Wednesday, Aug. 16 marks the return of Gary Comeau and the Voodoo All Stars. This group of seasoned musicians brings the New Orleans rockin’ roots and blues. They take the rhythm of the Maritime Acadian music, season well with zydeco blues and serve it up with great showmanship for a great evening of entertainment.

Comeau is a singer-songwriter and musician of unusual diversity and talent. Although Comeau’s own roots are French-Acadian – he was born and raised in Nova Scotia – his soul seems to have taken a long and inspiring detour through Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta. And while Comeau does not consider himself to be a Cajun or zydeco artist per se, he’s probably the most southern-sounding player in the Lower Mainland.

Wednesday is also Full Cupboard night at the park. Audiences are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for Envision Financial’s innovative community program. Envision has set a goal to raise $1 million and 100,000 pounds of food by 2023 and all food and money raised stays in the Mission community. Envision Financial staff will be on site collecting during the concert.

The concerts take place rain or shine and the Special Olympics team will be on site to assist with parking as they have been doing for more than 20 years. The Concert Series is a true community event, bringing together families, neighbours and new friends for one hour twice a week. The concerts are free and everyone is welcome.
