1 injured in Langley Tuesday morning shooting

Police remain in the area of 204th Street and 66th Avenue

UPDATE:

At about 9:20 a.m. Langley RCMP secured a house in the area of 67th Avenue and 206th Street.

Arlene R, a resident of the area who didn’t want her last name used, said she was taking her grandkids to school when she saw the route blocked by police.

“I had to detour around. I didn’t know what it was at the time… I dropped [the kids] off and came back home. By then, [police] were clearing up and I found out after that a fellow with a gunshot wound was found,” she told the Langley Advance Times.

“This is not something that happens here often. But things like that are happening everywhere it seems these days.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

One person is suffering from gunshot-related injuries following a shooting in Langley Tuesday morning.

Langley RCMP responded to calls at around 6:30 a.m. of a man on the side of the road with injuries “consistent with those of a gunshot,” said Cpl. Craig van Herk.

The man was located by first responders in the 20400-block of 68th Avenue, who was conscious and breathing. He was transported to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

“The initial investigation has revealed the location the man was located at may not have been the location of the incident,” van Herk said.

Mounties remain in the area speaking with witnesses.

“The investigation is still in its early stages, and police are working to determine the location and possible motive for the shooting,” van Herk explained.

Police are searching in the area of the 20600-block of 67th Avenue.

Initially a section of 68th Avenue was closed between 204th and 205th Streets, but it was reopened after a couple hours.

Anyone with information, including dash cam footage, around the area of 68th Avenue between 204th and 208th Streets between 6 to 6:30 a.m. is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file 2024-13283.
