RCMP find grow op on Lapwing Cr.

A suspected break and enter report led police to a marijuana grow operation in the 7300 block of Lapwing Crescent last week.

Someone noticed the residence’s front door was opened and appeared to be damaged around 7:45 a.m., said Sgt. Miriam Dickson.

Police arrived and entered the property to make sure nobody was injured inside. A woman was located upstairs, and she explained she was just renting the upper floor, said Dickson.

As police were clearing the house, they noticed a strong marijuana odour coming from the downstairs.

Officers returned to the home around 2 p.m. armed with a search warrant and located about 650 marijuana plants on the lower floor. Nobody was home at the time, said Dickson, also noting the woman upstairs was questioned and released.
