Former Mission chief honoured

funeral1.jpg

Former Mission Fire Chief Frank Ryan's service was held Saturday, in the community's first-ever full fire department funeral.

Stave Lake Road was closed during the procession which saw the chief's casket transported in the bed of Mission Fire/Rescue's antique 1954 engine from station one to the Clarke Theatre.

Hundreds of people attended the funeral to pay their respects to the man who helmed the local fire department for 14 years.

Ryan retired in 2009 and passed away earlier this month after a short battle with cancer.
