Mission firefighter injured at house fire
A Mission firefighter was taken to hospital Monday morning after battling a house fire on Grand Street, but is home now, according to officials.
The firefighter sustained injuries to his shoulder and leg, and will be back to work within a few days, said Asst. Fire Chief Larry Watkinson.
The blaze consumed the home on the east side of the street, located between Third and Fourth Avenues. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators have not been able to determine a cause, however, the fire's point of origin was on the main floor by the furnace, said Chief Ian Fitzpatrick.
The home is now structurally unsafe and will likely be demolished, he added.
