Mission conference focuses on children

The first annual Kids Count conference, Remembering to Play, will be taking place March 29 in Mission.

This participatory play ship is for individuals living with, caring for, or working with children. Topics to be covered include the importance of balancing academics and play-based learning, following the child's lead and supporting a co-creative environment, and learning creative activities that promote collaboration/learning for children.

The conference will be led by Vince Gowmon, a certified professional life coach. He was educated through The Coaches Training Institute and earned a bachelor of business administration from SFU focusing on human resources, marketing and international business.

The conference runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Mission Central Elementary school, 7466 Welton St. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. and snacks will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.

The cost to attend is $10 for Mission residents, and $20 for out of town guests. Registration and payment is required by March 21. To sign up, call Laura Wilson at 604-820-4367 or e-mail
