Captains Blaine Odenbach and Norm MacLeod of Mission Fire/Rescue have been promoted to the rank of assistant fire chief, according to a District news release.

“This is very exciting for the department," said Chief Larry Watkinson.

"This is the first time we’ve been able to promote like this from within, which speaks to the quality and depth of our fire fighters. Blaine and Norm will be filling key roles in protecting our community and we are proud of the development of these fine officers.”

MacLeod will be overseeing training and operations and Blaine will lead emergency planning and fire prevention.

The assistant chiefs will be working a four-day-on, four-day-off schedule, ensuring a chief officer is on-duty at all times and increasing operational readiness for the community.
