Cherry Hill store robbed again

Mission RCMP have arrested and charged one male with a March 19 robbery

A man charged with robbery appeared in court Monday afternoon.

Around 8 p.m. March 19, a lone male entered the Cherry Hill Convenience Store at the corner of Cherry Avenue and Cedar Street, brandished a knife, reached over the counter to steal an undisclosed amount of cash, and then fled on foot.

This was the fourth time the store has been robbed since last August.

Mission RCMP arrested and charged Nicholas St. Croix with robbery with an offensive weapon, and disguise with intent.

"When a business becomes a repeat target we like to assist them by providing tips on how to make the location less desirable for the culprits," said Sgt. Miriam Dickson. "Vic Barron, our crime prevention coordinator, has since attended the store to assess."

The Mission Crime Prevention Office provides a free "target-hardening assessment" for commercial and residential properties, based on crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) principles. The key aspects of CPTED include natural surveillance, natural access control, territorial enforcement and maintenance.
