COVID-19 exposures at Seabird Island Community, Coquihalla Elementary schools

Fraser Health has reported two recent exposure events in the Hope-Agassiz area.

COVID-19 exposure happened at Coquihalla Elementary School on Jan. 6, 7 and 11 And Seabird Island Community School had an exposure event on Jan. 11. Seabird Island Community recently had one other COVID-19 exposure event running from Jan. 5 to 8, but it has since been removed from Fraser Health’s exposure list.

According to Fraser Health, an exposure is defined as a single person with lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.

SD 78 has undergone several exposure events over the course of the pandemic, with four reaching Hope Secondary School, the most recent being in late November. Receiving a notification of exposure does not necessarily mean your child has been exposed to COVID-19;

According to the most recent data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, the Hope area has seen three additional cases of COVID-19 from Jan. 3 to 9. Throughout 2020, the Hope area has seen a total of 33 cases.
