The District of Mission has stepped in and will ensure the Old Car Sunday in the Park event continues.

The District of Mission has decided to step in and ensure the annual Old Car Sunday in the Park event continues to run in Fraser River Heritage Park on Fathers’ Day.

Just two days after event organizers announced that the show’s 25 year run had come to an end – citing a lack of  volunteers to maintain the core organizing committee and  that the membership of the organizing car clubs is declining – the district has confirmed that the show will return in 2017.

A district press release states after 25 years, the organizing committee deserves a break and the district is honoured to be able to step up. The Warrens (who started the event) have agreed to help as consultants for the 2017 transition year. Together we will explore new options and old favourites to create a day that appeals to as broad a cross section of the community as possible.

It goes on to say that the district is “connecting with the many car clubs in the valley who have participated and will be putting a new organizing committee together to make sure that the 2017 Father’s Day lives up to the standards of the organizers whose tracks we follow.”
