Driver airlifted after crashing into pole in Abbotsford

A driver in his 60s was airlifted to hospital tonight (Thursday)after a single-vehicle crash at Sumas Way and Highway 11.

The incident took place at 7 p.m., when a man driving a Ford Focus crashed into a pole.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the man was having “breathing problems,” and an air ambulance was dispatched nearby to transport him to hospital.

MacDonald didn’t know whether the man had a medical issue that led to the crash.

No further details are available at this time.
