Election 2017: The polls are open

Mission residents have until 8 p.m. to cast their vote.

It’s 8 a.m. and that means the polls are open!

Be sure to take the time to go out and vote in the 2017 B.C. election.

Today, May 9, voting places will also be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Mission, there are two ridings:

Abbotsford Mission:

This riding includes all of northeast Abbotsford to the east of Highway 11 and Sumas Way and the north of Highway 1. It also includes the central and western portions of Mission.

Candidates:

Simon Gibson: Liberal (incumbent)

Andrew Christie: NDP

Jennifer Holmes: Green

Dan Cameron: Christian Heritage Party

Maple Ridge-Mission

The riding spans the two municipalities in its name, Maple Ridge-Mission is generally bordered by 224th Street to the west and the Cedar Valley Connector/Cedar Street to the east.

Candidates:

Marc Dalton: Liberal (incumbent)

Bob D’Eith: NDP

Peter Tam: Green

Trevor Hamilton: Conservative

Jeff Monds: Libertarian
