Charges have been dropped against two men in relation to a stabbing that occurred May 23 on a mushroom farm in Abbotsford.

Setha Kim, 38, and Sokhom Lim, 55, had each been charged with aggravated assault, but the charges were stayed recently in Abbotsford provincial court.

Dan McLaughlin, spokesman for the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS), said the decision was reached after the service received new information about the case from the investigators.

“Following the receipt of this information and, after a review of the available evidence, the BCPS concluded the charge assessment standard was no longer met,” he said.

McLaughlin did not elaborate on what the new information was, but said the BCPS considers whether there is a “substantial likelihood of conviction” when proceeding with a case.

The stabbing occurred at a farm in the 27800 block of Townshipline Road. A 40-year-old man was airlifted to hospital, where he recovered from his injuries.

Police at the time said they had detained two men, but they were released.

Police also said it wasn’t clear what relationship the three had to one another and to the farm.
