The Alex Fraser Bridge has been re-opened after another lengthy closure in both directions Monday afternoon due to falling snow and ice.
The closure, which began at 1 p.m. Monday, was the latest in a round of bridge closures due to the snowstorm that has blanketed the Lower Mainland this week. All lanes of the bridge reopened around 4:40, except the southbound slow lane.
Last week, 30 drivers had their cars damaged as a result of ice and snow falling off the Alex Fraser and 10 had their cars damaged by ice and snow falling off the Port Mann.

Transportation Minister Todd Stone said that the province was investigating why ice and snow had accumulated on the Alex Fraser – suggesting that de-icing agent should have been applied more often.
