Wind warning issued for Fraser Valley

Gusts expected to reach 80 km/h this morning

A wind warning has been issued for Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley.

Environment Canada warned the area to brace for strong winds, with some areas seeing southerly winds of 80 km/h this morning.

“Coastal sections will experience southerly winds of 70 to 80 km/h by late Monday morning,” the warning reads. It says winds will likely ease in the afternoon. Before then, though, Environment Canada says winds may “toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.”

“Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.”
