Un-Rau - Rev. Albert Menno passed away peacefully on March 7, 2009 at the age of 78. Albert was a recent resident of the Menno Terrace in Abbotsford, but found his home wherever he hung his coat. Albert was born into a Mennonite family on May 3, 1930 and found his purpose in life as a minister for the Evangelical Free Church, The United Church of Canada, and the Anglican Church of Canada. He also served as a missionary for the EV Free Church in the Philippines. His mission work spanned many years and true to his faith and values, he kept in touch with most of the lives he touched.

After leaving the ministry in 1987, Albert pursued many ventures; including Environmental projects, health care distribution and the publication of his autobiography "In and Out of the Abyss." Albert loved reading and achieved his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Divinity, and was in the process of writing his Doctoral Thesis - "The Church's Role in the Environment". His marriage to Esther Ruth Bergmann was a glorious union that lasted 55 years. In addition to the joys of family life, Albert was proud to share his ministry with Esther - pianist, organist and music teacher. Albert is fondly remembered by his wife Esther, four children, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren (2 more on the way!). "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want …" A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. in Highland Community Church, 3130 McMillan Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the M.C.C. Food For All program in his memory.
