Catherine MAYNARD

January 15, 2010

MAYNARD, Catherine (Cay)

Margaret (Halliday)

Dec. 1, 1923 to Jan. 15, 2010.

Cay to all her friends lived in Abbotsford since 1955 with a short stay in Oliver. She was born in Kamloops BC and moved to the Fraser Valley at a young age residing in Harrison Mills where she was crowned May Queen in 1935. Her passion for travel took her far beyond the Valley in her later years. Friday, Cay slipped away to be with her husband Ted and her daughter Heather. She is survived by her sons David (Sally), Mike (Bev), Peter and her daughter Jo-Ann (Jim) Larson, son-in- law Tom Clark and daughter-in-law Carol (Craig) Castle. Cay had 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her greatly. Her involvement in many organizations over her lifetime included Square Dancing with the Swinging Hubs, Widows Helping Others, a Lifetime Membership in the Abbotsford Genealogy Society, 30 years of 5 Pin Bowling (go Hooters), Abbotsford Lawn Bowling Club and Scottish Country Dancing.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission BC c/o the Fraser Health Region. The care given to Mom was exceptional and we wish to thank the Doctors and staff at Christine Morrison as well as those at the Abbotsford Hospital. Cays wishes were no funeral. The family instead will honor her with a come and go tea, Saturday January 23, 2010 from 2-4 at the Old Age Pensioners Hall at 33889 Essendene Street in Abbotsford. She said to tell her widow friends, "its finger food day". Her vibrant life will be greatly missed. Thank you to all whose life she touched. You were her extended family and she was truly blessed.
