DAFFE, DONALD DANIEL

January 1, 1929 - April 7, 2008

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Daniel Daffe at the age of 79, loving husband to Emily over 54 years, father of Deborah (Ernie) and Pamela, Grandfather to Michael (Andrea), Jennifer (Paul), Katherine, Sean, Daniel and Dominique. Great-Grandpa to Baby Riley, adopted grandchildren Juli and Hilary and adopted great-grandson Xavier. Survived by one sister, Marie. Don was born in Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by brothers Peter and Gilbert, and sister, Anna. Don has numerous nieces and nephews. All will miss him greatly. In 1952 he met his wife Emily -Love at First Sight! Don and Emily were married in 1953 and lived in Edmonton for 36 years, then moving to B.C. in 1990.

Don had a varied career, starting with the Canadian Merchant Navy at the end of WWII, and ending his career as a teacher and principal with the Edmonton Catholic School Board. He travelled extensively in his earlier years. He touched the lives of many students, parents and colleagues.

Don had many hobbies. He built two homes for Emily and family, two airplanes, and rebuilt a car that arrived in boxes! If he needed it, he built it! The phrase of "dad can fix anything" became "grandpa can fix anything". He volunteered countless hours after retirement at St. Ann's Parish and was active with the Knights of Columbus.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Morrison and staff, and nurses and staff at MSA hospital who took care of Don during his illness of the last two years, St. Ann's Parish and the prayers and good wishes from many friends and family.

Prayers: Monday, April 14th at 7:00pm at St. Ann's Catholic Parish, 33333 Mayfair Avenue, Abbotsford. Funeral: Tuesday, April 15th at 11:00am at St. Ann's.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Lung Association would be appreciated.
