Elizabeth Laura (nee Janzen WIEBE

Elizabeth Laura (nee Janzen) went peacefully to her heavenly home on June 19, 2005. She was born in Chinook, Montana on November 11, 1914. At the age of four, moved with her parents to Mennon, Sask. Where she grew up on the family farm until her marriage to her beloved husband Bill, on April 9, 1936.

In 1944 Bill and Elizabeth, with their children, moved to Abbotsford. She enjoyed life on the small “Hobby Farm”. She delighted in utilizing her homemaking talents and her gift of hospitality. During her “empty nest” years she enjoyed her part time employment at the Abbotsford Christian Book Store and Hat Shop.

She will be fondly remembered for her numerous community and church involvements, assisting her husband who was President of “New Horizons Senior Fellowship” and in charge of the Welcoming Committee at Central Heights Church. She is past President of the “Ladies Aid Society” and was in charge of the Primary Sunday School Department for 22 years which flourished under her direction, also hostessing and teaching “Good News Clubs” in her home.

Elizabeth will be sadly missed by her family: daughters Dolores (Al) Brandt, from San Jose, CA, Elaine (Clark) Allen, from Dallas, OR, daughter-in-law Shirley Kehler, from Abbotsford; grandchildren Kim Nachman (PA), Sheri Pine (CA), Lori Leander (CO), Kevin Allen (VA), Jeff Wiebe (BC), Jason Wiebe (BC) and Jordon Wiebe (BC); 7 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters; brothers Sam, Arnold and John and sister Frieda Giesbrecht. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Bill; only son Ron; granddaughter Cynthia Brandt; brothers Henry and John; sisters Alma, Anne and Susan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 24 at Bakerview Mennonite Brethren Church, 2285 Clear Rd. Visitation will be held at Personal Alternative Funeral Service, 3070 275th Ave., Aldergrove on Thursday, June 23 from 6:30 to

8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth's memory may be made to the Menno Home Palliative Care c/o the Menno Home, 32910 Brundige Ave., Abbotsford, B.C. V2S 1N2 or the Gideons.
