THOMPSON, FRED LESLIE

On September 18, 2008, Fred peacefully passed away to be with our Lord.

Survived by his son Jack of Toronto, his loving wife Ruth, and his siblings Ethel, Bob (Mary), Margaret and Eileen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by Ruth's children, Sheila (Paul), Byron (Wendy) and Becky (John) and their families. Predeceased by his first wife Kaye (nee Spence), brothers Jack and Albert and sister Ellenor Bickle.

Born in Vancouver on January 5, 1924, Fred was a veteran of World War 2, serving 4 years in Holland, Belgium and France. Most of his life, Fred worked as a salesman for Marshall Wells and Preston Motors. He was an active member of the Lions Club and also loved golf and singing with the Barbershop Quartet. Fred was a very sociable man, who always had a story or joke to share.

A memorial service was held on September 24 at 1:00 pm at the Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church (33218 Marshall Road, Abbotsford BC), a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
