BRAUTIGAM; Gordon Davis

It is with profound sadness that Gordon’s family announces his passing on December 13th, 2016 at the age of 97. Gordon passed peacefully at home. Gord was born on August 27th, 1919 in Mission, BC and grew up on Nicomen Island – the eldest son of Fred and Violet Brautigam. Gordon, joined the army at the age of 18. He spent 5 1/2 years in the army during WWII, and was awarded many medals. He later married Joyce Freeman and went on to raise a family and an extended family. They were married for 60 years. He had a few careers over the years, including driving logging and lumber trucks and hauling gas for Esso, but the one he loved the most was driving a school bus. He mostly drove the kids from Nicomen Island and Deroche to and from Mission. He drove this route for 23 years. He won many awards for his excellent bus driving. He loved fishing, playing cards, making wine and vegetable gardening. He was close to his siblings, and there were many card games played on Saturday nights with them and his many nieces and nephews. If the weather permitted, he would be out fishing with his brothers and sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joyce, children; Brian (Karen) of Mission, BC; and Faye of Calgary, AB; his extended family; Rosellen (Mike) of Holden, AB; Cheryl of Calgary, AB; and Karen (Doug) of St. Albert, SK; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
