GREGER, Harold Ruben

Harold Ruben Greger was born February 21, 1933 in Lamont, Alberta and died February 27, 2009 in Nakusp, B.C. He left home at the age of thirteen and went to work in northern Alberta at a logging camp. Eventually he moved to Edmonton and while working as a greens keeper at a golf course, he met his wife to be, Jenne. They married May 4, 1951 and started their family while Harold worked for Woodwards.

In 1956 they moved to B.C. living in Matsqui briefly before moving to Mission. During this time he worked as a professional driver, until his natural mechanical abilities allowed him to become a mechanic in the logging industry. Soon he was Master Mechanic at Bear Creek Camp for Pretty’s Timber on Harrison Lake .Eventually he left to work in Mission at Millstream Timber until 1974 when he and Jenne started their business, The Pantry Natural Foods.

In 1989 they moved to Galena Bay, B.C. where he pursued many interests, including designing and building a dam and a small hydro electric system to power their home in the wilderness. For fun Harold loved to socialize, dance, play cards, tell stories and, of course, work. Anyone who knew him would attest to his ability and willingness to fix almost anything and help almost anyone.

Harold’s strong work ethic combined with his faith in his own abilities is an example for us all to live up to.

Harold will be missed by his wife Jenne, his sister Lena (Lawrence), his brother Dan (Pat), his son Gordon, now known as Rueben(Pat),his son Randy, his daughter Margot(Len) and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
