Irene entered this life on June 19, 1923 and passed away peacefully on June 19, 2006, on her 83rd birthday, after cancer had taken its toll. Born to Joe and Edith Goodhind in Bristol, England, Irene was predeceased by her husband Fred who passed away in 1958, and her brother Bert. Irene is survived by her Âbrothers Jeff and Ray in England; her very loving children Linda, Bill (Gill) and Roger (Pearl) in Canada, and son John in England who will all miss her greatly. Irene will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Nicola, Sarah, Caroline, Paul, Jason, Dylan and Amanda, their spouses and partners, as well as four great grandchildren Elizabeth, Savannah, Harvey and Max, here and in England. Irene followed three of her children to Canada in 1976 and worked in retail, eventually becoming Assistant Manager at the Harbour Center Observation Deck prior to her retirement.
The family would like to extend Irene’s appreciation to her physicians, Dr. Finch and Dr. Patel, along with the home help (especially Brenda, Susan and Heide) she received in Mission. The family would also like to extend their and Irene’s love and appreciation to the staff and volunteers at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission. Their affection and professionalism helped Irene’s last weeks be filled with the love and caring we would all wish for ourselves. The family would also like to thank Irene’s dear friends Karin, Connie and Rico along with her friends and neighbours at St. Andrews Place for their friendship and support.
