BERGEN Isaac Peter. Isaac went to be with his Lord and Saviour on May 12, 2012. Isaac was born on September 14, 1923 to Peter and Margareta (Derksen) Bergen in Schoenhorst, Ukraine. Along with so many others they fled to Germany in 1943. Here he married Mika Krahn and their first son was born shortly before they immigrated to Canada. Isaac worked full time in the construction industry eventually starting his own contractor / builder business and along with his sons, mostly Henry, they built many custom homes in the valley from start to finish. Together with his wife they were deacons in the Ebenezer Church for many years. He loved the Lord and served him gladly. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, playing with the grandkids and preparing family feasts. He also spent countless hours compiling family history books for the Derksens, Bergens and Krahns. He is survived by his children: Pete (Sherrie), Henry (Heidi), John (Karen) and Marita (Peter) Gunther, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by in-laws Luzie Bergen, Lena Flore, Elisabeth Krahn, Abe & Mae Krahn and Carol Krahn and well as many nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church sanctuary on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 9:00 - 10:00 with internment to follow at Maclure Road Cemetery and a celebration / lunch at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church gym at 12:00 noon.
