LUERS

John Willy Luers passed away last week at the age of 81. A long time resident and long serving Alderman of Mission, John immigrated to Canada from Germany in the early 1950’s. Originally trained as a baker, John worked as a cook in forestry camps and then purchased his first restaurant in Mission in the 1960’s. John put in long days working hard to make his restaurants a success and enjoyed the daily interaction with his customers. Active in municipal politics, John was on council for many years. He enjoyed his time in the Rotary Club and was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church. John loved entertaining, traveling, reading, animals and gardening and in his retirement, raised dogs on his hobby farm in Silverdale. John is survived by his wife Linda, children Dave (Deborah), Karen, and Mark (Jana), grandchildren Jessica, Keesa, Matthias and Ava and brother Willi. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Saturday October 23rd, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church,
