Joseph

June 22, 1931 - July 14, 2006

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing, in Mission Hospital, of our most beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend and amazing fiddle player. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret Ordog; brother Jim; and sister Margaret. Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his son Gary (Cindy); daughters Judy (Brian) and Donna (Tony); grandchildren Ashley, Kevin, Erika, Teddie, Michael, C.J. and Mickey; a large extended family and many friends.

Joe spent his earliest years growing up in Mission and settled in Maple Ridge for many years to raise his family with Jean, his wife of 40 years. He was a very proud tradesman, a Millwright for many years at Canadian Phoenix Pipe and Steel in Port Moody and his last job before retiring at age 55, was with MacMillan Bloedel on Annacis Island. Joe had a great sense of humour and loved

life … His greatest love after family and friends was for his violin. Throughout his life he was blessed with many friends who shared his passion for music. The family home was always alive with music and social gatherings. Dad formed a country and western band with pals Ron and Wayne and enjoyed many years performing on weekends for all kinds of events. He was a founding member of the Haney Old Time Fiddlers Assoc. There were frequent “jam sessions” in his Mission home in the latter years. Joe also enjoyed gardening, and his home on Mill Street was landscaped like a park. Dad loved astronomy and read every book on stars that he could get his hands on. He loved the trips to the Vancouver Planetarium. He also enjoyed fishing and wildlife, and was a big supporter of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. In the last few years his favourite times were spent with all his grandchildren together, making them his famous homemade chicken noodle soup and family recipe fried chicken.

“Cherished memories will keep you alive in our hearts. We love you.”

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, 32840 Janzen Avenue (southwest corner of Cedar Street and Cherry Avenue), Mission, BC. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in appreciation for successfully curing Joe’s cancer.
