ELLINGSON, Katherine

September 30, 1937 - July 24, 2016

On July 24, 2016, surrounded by those that she considered her closest friends, Katherine Ellingson left this world to be with Jesus, after succumbing to injuries from a collision with a car while she was driving her scooter. She was born September 30, 1937, in Clayhurst, BC. Kay endured many hardships throughout her life and always found the will and the spirit to prevail. Kay married in 1958 and became widowed two years later at which time she had a daughter, Lorelei, who was born challenged and resides in a Community Living Home in Surrey.

Kay is also survived by her brother, John, in Powell River.

She was a court reporter/transcriber for 35 years in Vancouver.

She volunteered for over 40 years for Union Gospel Mission, the United Church, working as a cashier and on the Board at MCC, plus 18 years at Helping Hands. Prior to retirement Kay worked in a medical clinic for 5 years. It was her determination and persistence that drove her to get things done her way and on her schedule.

She exhibited a great sense of humour when telling her stories of a life well lived. Striving to always look her elegant best and always in search of a bargain, she was quick to find the good in people and to make friends.

At her request there will be No Service.

She would simply ask that you “pay it forward” and help those in need.
