VRIELING Klaas. March 24, 1915 ~ June 24, 2012. Surrounded by family, Klaas Vrieling passed away peacefully to be with his Saviour on June 24, 2012, at the age of 97 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. He is survived by his devoted wife, Corol Vrieling; children, Dianne (Gary) Marty, Nelly (Hans) Speelman, Bill (Carolyn) Vrieling; stepchildren, Byron Yurick, Darryle Yurick, Sheree (Al) Hlavach; grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob, Peter, Marguerite, Kevin, Carly, Laura, Lindsay; as well as two sisters in the Netherlands, Grietje Hol, Femmie de Haan; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Canada and the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jacoba (née Kroon) in 1989; and by siblings; Jantje Vrieling, Jasper, Gerrit Jan, and Willemien Klein. Klaas immigrated from Holland with his wife Coba in 1951 to central Alberta. His dream of owning his own farm was finally realized when they moved to Mt. Lehman in 1965. He was a gentle and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family. In 1996, he married Corol, with whom he has shared 16 years, and who lovingly made it possible for him to remain at home until his final illness. Klaas was a dedicated member of Gateway Community Christian Reformed Church and also a strong supporter of Christian education. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2012, and from 10:00 to 10:30 am, Friday, June 29, 2012, at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life; a graveside service will take place on Friday, June 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Gateway Community Christian Reformed Church, 2884 Abbotsford Mission Hwy, Abbotsford, BC with Pastor Bert Slofstra officiating. The family thanks Carolyn Bulawka and staff at the Cottage Daycare, as well as the staff at Baker 2 and Cheam 2 at ARH, especially Rachel, Esther, and Ken.
