Nancy Elsie Unruh (nee Stupka)

September 24, 1914 - November 27, 2016

Nancy was born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan and began her working life as a Psychiatric Nurse in North Battleford Hospital. Here Nancy met and married Menno Unruh. Together they raised three daughters on a farm in Mission City, B.C. Menno and Nancy enjoyed family gatherings and activities that encouraged life-long learning. Nancy nursed at Mission Memorial Hospital and both Nancy and Menno enjoyed curling with the Mission Curling Club. Their retirement years began in Tappen, B.C., where they built a home overlooking Shuswap Lake, and enjoyed gardening and spending summers with their granddaughters. After Menno’s death, Nancy moved to the Coast to be closer to family. Nancy will be greatly missed by many whose lives she brightened with her caring personality. Nancy is survived by her sister Nelly, brother Serguis, sister-in-law Frieda, daughters Margaret Ann (Andy Dumas, d. 2015), Karen (Neil Bonnell), granddaughters Natasha King, and Shannon King (Beverly Bouma) and great granddaughter Natasha’s daughter Charlie. Predeceased by her husband Menno (d. 1987) and daughter Diana Louise (d. 1980). We would like to thank Hawthorne Care Centre in Port Coquitlam for their loving care of Nancy in her last years.
