STELMASCHUK, Pearl (Machuk)

With great sadness, the family of Pearl Stelmaschuk announce the passing of our Mother and Baba at the age of 93 years. Pearl was born in Domeninka, Ukraine and, at age 12, immigrated to Canada with her family. She married Peter Stelmaschuk on November 2, 1940. Together they farmed in Highland Park before moving to Fairview where they operated several businesses. After Peter's untimely death in 1964, she moved to Edmonton where her sons were attending university. She worked as a cook at the Bonaventure Hotel, J & M Restaurant and at oil patch camps near Rainbow Lake. She moved to Red Deer in 1979 and then to Abbotsford, BC in 1984. She returned to Alberta in September 2004, residing in Ironwood Estates in St Albert until her passing. Pearl is survived by sons, Clark (Judy), Gerald, and Merose (Sheilah), eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, sister Lucille (William) Coghill and brother William (Darlene) Masuak. She was predeceased by her parents, Moses and Mabel Machuk, husband Peter, infant sister Anne, brothers Harry and Nick, sisters Mary Balisky and Martha Kowalchuk.

A memorial service was held at Ironwood Estates, St Albert on November 13. A funeral will be held November 20, 2010, 11 am at St Paul's United Church in Fairview, Alberta, internment to follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
