ELLWOOD, Ruth V.

In loving memory of Ruth V. Ellwood (Klemmen). Sept. 3, 1921-April 4. 2008. Ruth was born in Naicam, Sask. and moved to the Abbotsford area when she was six. At the age of 15, she met the love of her life, Gordon, to whom she was married for 65 years.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Gordon; children, Lynne (Terry) Feser, Denny (Barb) Ellwood, Allan Ellwood and Janice Macdonald; grandchildren, Tricia, Tori, Tarl, Janal, Kevin, Laura, Tyler, Gillian; four great-grandchildren Gralyn, Kordon, Laney Torin; and her sister, Pherne Johnston and family. After graduating from Phillip Sheffield High School, Ruth worked as a nurse at Essondale Hospital and later as a matron at Matsqui Women's Penitentiary until it closed.

Gordon and Ruth farmed the homestead on Old Yale Road until its sale in 1987, taking time to travel and enjoy their grandchildren. Ruth was a long time member of the Beehive Rebekah Lodge where she made many lasting friendships. Ruth was always ready to share a cup of tea and piece of apple pie or play a game of Rummy with friends or grandchildren. She was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. Special thanks to the staff at Sherwood Manor for their love, kindness, and support. Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11:00 am.
