WERGELAND, SIGMUND H.
Sig died peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Sechelt on June 9, 2008 from complications relating to a lengthy history of diabetes. In October, 1995, Sig received the gift of a kidney from his younger brother. Victor and he was very appreciative of the additional years spent with his family. Sig and his wife moved to the Sunshine Cost in 1997 and Sig was a familiar figure walking the hills of Lower Gibsons.
One of seven children born to Sigurd and Aslaug Wergeland of Dewdney, B.C., Sig was predeceased by his parents, his sister Sylvia and his brother Einar. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Linda (John) and Joan, his brothers Leif (Nancy) and Victor (Dell), his Uncle Haakon and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves many relatives in Norway.
Sig was a wonderful husband to Lois, a devoted father to Kendal (Michelle) and Chris (Shannon) and a very proud grandfather of Paige, Delaney and Lordana. He leaves us with so many good memories!
A private family gathering will be held in memory of Sig on July 5, 2008.
