HOLTBY, Thomas "Tom"
October 6, 1948 - October 4, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tom" Holtby. Athlete, Teacher, "Tom of all Trades", Adventurer, Proud Papa. Tom passed away suddenly on October 4, 2016 in the loving arms of his wife Leslie. He was predeceased by his father, Ed, and his mother, Grace. Tom was a passionate lifelong learner who became an expert at every new endeavour he pursued. His passion for learning continued on in his professional life as a teacher and administrator for over 33 years. He began his career in Richmond and subsequently moved to the Abbotsford School District to pursue his belief in providing quality physical education for elementary students. He will be missed forever and always by his loving wife and best friend of 45 years, Leslie; his children Danika, Brenna (Todd), Leland (Lara); his grandchildren Holten, Ashlin, Delaney, Carson and Wesley; his brothers Max (Mary), Ted (Sue), Paul (Azina), Nick (Angela) and many relatives and friends. A Remembrance of Tom's Life will be held on October 22nd at 3:00 pm at the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the "Tom Holtby Memorial Bursary Fund" has been set up so Tom can continue to encourage young athletes in our community. Donations can be made at Envision Financial. We have so many wonderful memories and we wished for so many more.
