The Mission Cedar Kings had more problems over the weekend, dropping games on Saturday and Sunday in West Coast Central Senior C Lacrosse League action.

Mission took on the ninth-place Burnaby Lakers on Saturday, and fell 10-5 in Port Coquitlam. The game was the Cedar Kings’ first regulation loss since April 29.

The Cedar Kings got goals from Cody Thompson (two), Paul Makowsky, Gavan Sand and Henry Senkler. Makowsky also led the team with two assists. Goalie Jeff Lissimore made 35 saves in a losing cause.

Sunday saw the Cedar Kings tangle again with the team they hosted and beat at the Mission Leisure Centre on May 13, but this time the Port Moody Express extracted some revenge.

The Express, playing on home ice, took down Mission 11-6.

Jim Nishiyama scored a hat trick on Sunday, with Tyler Voisey, Cody Thompson and Mike Lowe also tallying for the Cedar Kings.

“It’s a weekend to put in the rear view mirror and move forward,” said Mission’s Cam Slater, following the pair of losses.

The Cedar Kings’ record now sits at seven wins, five losses and one overtime loss. They rank third in the 10-team WCSLL.

The team returns to action on the weekend, with games against the Coquitlam Adanacs on Saturday and the North Shore Indians on Sunday.

The Cedar Kings also have a pub night fundraiser at The 14th Avenue Pub on July 1.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m., and $25 gets a burger and a beer, with some of the proceeds going to the team. Prizes will also be given away.
