Mission’s Chad Cromar, shown here with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds, has been invited to appear on the Hit the Ice television show.

Chad Cromar’s 2017 continues to be one for the history books.

Fresh off a bronze medal win at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in May, the Mission goaltender is taking his talents to the small screen.

Cromar is one of a handful of promising young hockey talents being featured on season six of the Aboriginal People’s Television Network’s (APTN) series Hit the Ice.

The show follows some of the best young Indigenous hockey players from across Canada as they come together for a two-week NHL-like training camp.

From physical training, on-ice drills and different team building activities, the 20 prospects experience the highs and lows of a professional-calibre training camp and try to grow not only as a team but also as men.

The players are ultimately working to showcase their skills for the scrutinizing eyes of real life junior scouts.

Cromar headed to Winnipeg where the show is filmed in mid-July and is there for several more weeks of training and filming.

The invitation to the show continues an excellent 2016-17 hockey season for the Mission Minor Hockey Association product.

The 17-year-old appeared in 16 regular-season games and one playoff match for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League this season, picking up six wins.

He also suited up twice for the Langley Rivermen of the B.C. Hockey League, earning one win.

The strong year comes off an equally excellent 2015-16 season, which saw Cromar help the Mission Secondary Roadrunners win the B.C. High School Hockey League Tier 2 championships and lead the Mission Stars Midget A1 hockey team to the provincials.
