It’s bonspiel season at the Mission Granite Curling Club, and activity ramps up locally starting this weekend.

The Mission Masters (60 plus) kicks it off starting on Friday and running until Sunday.

The following weekend the club hosts the Masters Region 11 Playdowns, with the best Masters teams in the Lower Mainland battling it out for a spot at the provincials. That event runs from Jan. 25 to 27.

Local curlers take the stage again on Feb. 1 and 2, with the Mission men’s and ladies combined bonspiel.

The action continues on Feb. 8 to 10, when the U18 Playdowns comes to town. The top young curlers from all over the province take to the ice for a provincial title.

The final big bonspiel of the season occurs from March 8 to 10, when the 2019 B.C. mixed open comes to Mission. This event will feature the best mixed teams in the Lower Mainland competing for a berth in the provincials.

The season wraps up on April 13, with the club’s annual awards night.
