Lacrosse season returns in Mission

The Mission Cedar Kings have started off the West Central Senior C Lacrosse League red hot.

Mission opened the season on April 1 with an 8-3 win over the Richmond Roadrunners.

Evan Wortley led the way with three goals, while Owen Munro added a pair. Brenton Graham, John Makowsky and Tyler Voisey also scored for the Cedar Kings. Cody Thompson recorded a team-high three assists, and goalie Jeff Lissimore stopped 27 shots for the win.

Mission made it two in a row on Saturday with an 8-7 win over the Ladner Pioneers, with Wortley having a four-goal night.

The Cedar Kings sit tied for first overall in the WCSLL, and next take on the Maple Ridge Attack on April 22 at 5 p.m. Mission then battles Coquitlam on April 29 to close out the month.

All the games for Mission occur at the Port Coquitlam Arena.
