Mission Cedar Kings lose first game of the season

First setback in WCSLL action for local team

The Mission Cedar Kings tasted defeated for the first time in West Central Senior C Lacrosse League action, falling 9-5 to the Ridge Attack on April 22.

Gavan Sand (two), Cody Thompson, Evan Wortley and Travis Laycock all scored for Mission.

The Cedar Kings outshot the Attack 44-41, with Mission goalie Jeff Lissimore recording 35 saves in the loss.

Mission’s record falls to two wins and one loss on the season, and they sit tied for third place in the league.

Mission next takes on the undefeated Coquitlam Adanacs at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday in Port Coquitlam. The Cedar Kings then battle the Langley Warriors on May 6 at 8:15 p.m.

Local lacrosse fans will get a chance to watch the Cedar Kings up close and personal when they host the Port Moody Express at the Mission Leisure Centre on May 13 at 2 p.m. It’s the first-ever home game in franchise history for the club.
