The Mission Roadrunners offence couldn’t get going against the W.J. Mouat Hawks in Abbotsford on Saturday.

Mission’s defence forced three turnovers in the first half, but only managed to punish the Hawks on one of them en route to a 38-7 loss.

The Roadrunners trailed 14-0 after the first quarter, but made it a one score game late in the second half when Levi Murchison rumbled in for a touchdown. Mouat added a late touchdown to make it 21-7 after the first half.

The Hawks took over in the second half, scoring 17 unanswered points to post the win.

Mission had no answer for Mouat’s running game, which recorded over 300 yards.

The Roadrunners’ record falls to one win and five losses after the setback. They sit in seventh place in the AAA’s eastern conference.

Mission travels to Burnaby to take on the St. Thomas More Knights on Friday.
