Provincial silver for Bantam C Sasquatch

Mission Bantam C squad places second in the province

The Mission Bantam C Sasquatch ended the box lacrosse season on a high note on July 16, earning a silver medal at the provincial tournament on Vancouver Island.

Mission advanced to the gold medal game, but fell 4-2 to the Victoria-Esquimalt Eagles in the deciding game.

Sasquatch player Nathan Newman earned most valuable player for his team at the event, with fair play awards going to his teammate Owen Simpson and Mission’s Prabh Mal from the Sasquatch Bantam A2 squad.

Mission opened the tournament with a 7-2 win over Comox Valley on July 13, and then downed Nanaimo 12-6 on July 14. The club lost 3-2 to West Kootenay on July 15, but then bounced back later that day by beating Vancouver 5-3.

The Mission Bantam A2 Sasquatch also competed at the provincials, opening with a 5-3 win over Coquitlam on July 13, but then falling 10-4 to Saanich on July 14. They then defeated Prince George 6-4 on July 15 to close out the event.

Mal earned the fair play award for the A2s, with Caillum Leask named an all-star.
