Mission’s Ethan Self, shown here at the Team BC tryout camp, has earned a spot on the Vancouver Stealth Bantam junior team.

An invite to the Team BC lacrosse camp has turned into a summer full of possibilities for Mission’s Ethan Self.

The 13-year-old received an invite to the camp back in May, and impressed evaluators with his fitness and overall lacrosse skill.

Despite attracting the attention of those picking the team, Self was not chosen to represent the province because other players at the camp had more experience.

While Self may not have made Team B.C., he was quickly scooped up by the Vancouver Junior Stealth Bantam Black A team.

The Stealth Junior team is associated with the National Lacrosse League’s Vancouver Stealth, and travels all across North America this summer to compete against some of the best young lacrosse players in the continent.

Self and the Junior Stealth will head to the Canada Day Lacrosse Tournament, the largest indoor box lacrosse tournament of its kind in North America, from June 30 to July 3 hosted by the NLL’s Calgary Roughnecks in the Alberta city.

He will also compete at the US Box Lacrosse Nationals in San Jose from Aug. 4 to 6 and the NLL junior tournament from Aug. 25 to 27 in Toronto.

Self, who heads into Grade 9 at Hatzic Middle School in the fall, has starred for years with Mission Minor Lacrosse and most recently suited up for the Mission Sasquatch Bantam A team.
