The University of the Fraser Valley baseball team ran its winning streak to four, sweeping a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday at home against the Vancouver Island Baseball Institute Mariners.
The Cascades improved to 5-3 in Canadian College Baseball Conference regular-season play, good for third place in the league. Their scheduled two-game set on Sunday vs. the Mariners was postponed due to soggy field conditions.

The UFV squad fell behind 4-2 through two innings in Saturday’s opener, but rallied to knot the score in the fourth and earn a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded and two out, Brennan Hegel worked a full count before driving a pitch into the right-centre gap to plate the winning run. Hegel and Nick Laflamme had two hits apiece, and starter Dylan Emmons went the distance, allowing three earned runs while racking up seven strikeouts.
