Chilliwack builder and developer Nathan Stone has been re-named to the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) national board of directors.

Stone is the managing partner of Odessa Group, a full-service general construction company in B.C.'s Fraser Valley, specializing in residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. He first got involved as a CHBA board member with the Fraser Valley local association and has also served on the provincial board of directors.

“Working within the association is always an educational experience,” said Stone. “You can grow your knowledge about the home building industry as well as learn from other builders – this helps to grow your own business and provide a better experience for home buyers.”

Last year, he was first elected to the second vice-president role on the national board of directors during the spring annual meeting of members. The second vice-president is a two-year position and this week he was re-affirmed by the membership at the CHBA conference to continue in the position for the second year.

Nathan Stone and Blake Hudema, a member of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association and National Treasurer, will convey the voices of British Columbia members on the National board.

“Our industry is diverse and we have many regional variations in how we build and the challenges that we face. It is important for us to have as broad of a representation as possible – this will allow us to continue to be the voice of residential construction industry and to advocate on behalf of industry stakeholders and our customers,” said Stone.

After 6 years of service to CHBA in various board roles, Nathan Stone is still just as committed to staying involved. “You will truly get as much or more out of it than what you put in. Being involved in the association is about collectively working to better our industry, and the reward of that is becoming better builders and businessman,” he said.
