A new furniture and appliance store is opening up in Mission.

Hometown Furniture and Appliances will soon have a new location in the community’s downtown core on First Avenue.

“We started in small towns – 1988 in Penticton – so we’re used to working in small communities,” said owner Joe Kandola.

He said he jumped at the chance to open a new store at the location (the old Fields building) when the opportunity came up.

The company carries all the major brand names and also has locations in Penticton, Kelowna, Chilliwack, and Smithers.

Kandola said that COVID-19 has come with a lot of challenges, but they have found success by staying positive.

The store’s soft-opening will be in mid April, and the official opening is slated for May.
