Lacey Construction was honoured as Community Champion in the Builders Code Champion Awards last month.

One of five companies across the province recognized for leading the way in advancing the culture of BC’s industrial, commercial, and institutional construction sector.

According to a press release, B.C.’s industry is 95.5 per cent male, since COVID-19, gender diversity has taken a backwards step, with tradeswomen dropping from 6.3 per cent to 4.5 per cent of the skilled workforce.

“The team at Lacey Construction is proud to have over 25 per cent of their field staff who are tradeswomen and over 10 per cent of the field staff who are Indigenous!

“Our success is due to the diversity of our team.” Erik Lacey said. “We are thankful to have past clients working with us, family members of past clients, and close friends. Our team is family and we enjoy the opportunity to work for other families in the Fraser Valley.”

This is the second time the team has been recognized as Community Champion – previously in 2021 taking home the honour for the first time.

On April 27, Lacey Construction won big at the CHBA Fraser Valley Housing Awards of Excellence taking home Best Custom Builder of the Year, and Best Renovator of the Year!

“It was such a fun evening to celebrate our team, our clients, trades and suppliers,” said Lacey.

Lacey Construction was joined by event sponsor and local hardware supplier Fraser Valley Building Supplies. This was the fourth year in a row Lacey Construction has been honoured as Best Custom Home Builder by CHBA Fraser Valley. “We are so thankful for the strong community of support we have in Mission and Deroche – there are amazing teachers focused on trades training, supportive suppliers and trades, and a great community of tradespeople.”
