The third annual Mission Career Expo & Job Fair is set to take on Oct. 9.

The job fair, dedicated to supporting the local job market, aims to connect job seekers with employers from a variety of local businesses and industries who are looking to fulfill their workplace recruitment needs.

The event has enjoyed success in its first two years, with an estimated 550 job seekers attending the 2023 Fair, encouraging the City of Mission, Work BC, Mission Public Schools, North Fraser Community Futures, and the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce to collaboratively host the event again this year.

“Our organizations all have the common goal of supporting the growth of our local workforce and contributing to the economic vitality of our community, so it only made sense to continue to work together to plan and deliver this event,” said Krista De Sousa, economic development assistant for the City of Mission.

Job seekers can look forward to exploring various industries and engaging directly with 30+ employers from a wide variety of industries who are looking to fill vacancies within their organizations.

Additionally, there will also be a host of career service providers from educational institutions, industry associations, and employment service resources on hand to assist job seekers with getting on the path to obtaining the job they want.

The fair is open to the public and offers free booth space for all participating employers, providing them the opportunity to showcase their organizations, share information about job openings, and meet potential candidates face-to-face.

Employers who are interested in participating in the Mission Career Expo & Job Fair can contact De Sousa at kdesousa@mission.ca.

Whether looking for a new job, information on local post-secondary and training programs, or assistance with career planning, job seekers will be able to find it all at the 2024 fair being held on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in the Mission Leisure Centre gymnasium from 1-5 p.m.
